Black, Lyle & Habberfield, LLP Reaps the Rewards of Neos after 20+ Years on Needles

Black, Lyle & Habberfield, LLP is a well-established personal injury law firm in Olean, New York. The firm has provided top-notch legal services to its clients in New York and Pennsylvania for over two decades.

Firm partner Kevin Habberfield shared with us the challenges his firm faced working remotely due to COVID and why they decided to switch from their long-standing case management software, Needles, to Neos in 2020.

The COVID-19 pandemic presented many new challenges for businesses, including law firms. Remote working became a necessity, and the firm needed a solution that would allow it to work efficiently and effectively from anywhere. Having been a Needles customer since 1999, Neos was the first legal software the firm considered.

We did explore other options, but they didn’t offer what we wanted, and we had a history with Assembly that we wanted to maintain.

Functionality was the most critical factor they considered when evaluating cloud-based case management system options. The firm wanted a customizable platform that would meet its needs. With its robust document management, communication, document generation, and customization capabilities, Neos offered just that, and its data access and backup features were significant selling points. Black, Lyle & Habberfield, LLP felt safe knowing that its data was secure and accessible from anywhere, at any time, with Neos. Plus, the firm knew that Neos is “so adaptable, it can meet the needs of any firm.”

The most important factor was functionality, pure and simple.

The transition from Needles to Neos was pretty seamless; the customer support team was “great,” and the online knowledge base provided the firm with all the information it needed to quickly get up and running with the new system.

We have been decades-long Needles customers and love the support Needles provides.

Today, the firm is becoming acclimated to Neos, but they already see the benefits of the switch. Neos unlocked tools they did not have before (such as communicating with clients more comprehensively, e.g., texting directly from Neos) and provided a better overall client experience.

For Black, Lyle & Habberfield, LLP, the switch from Needles to Neos was a positive experience. The firm chose Neos for its functionality, ability to customize the user interface, data access and backup features, and customer support. The transition process was pretty quick, and the firm has already seen the benefits of the switch in the form of new tools and improved client experience.

Not sure if you should switch from Needles to Neos? I would recommend you absolutely give it a try.

If you are a law firm considering switching to Neos or simply curious about the system, we invite you to attend a monthly Neos deminar.
